Five or six feet underground, two hundred giant skeletons were unearthed, most of them intact in good condition.
Discoveries of the skeletons of a gigantic race often appear in various news and media articles, and therefore we are more intrigued to learn to which race the ancient “mound builders” belonged.
About a century ago, an article appeared in The Toronto Daily Telegraph stating that in Cayuga Township on the Grand River, on the farm of a resident named Daniel Fradenburg, five or six feet underground, two hundred skeletons were unearthed, nearly all intact in their good conditions.
The discoverers found a beaded necklace around the neck of each, stone pipes in the jaws of several of them, and many stone axes and skinners lying around on the land. The skeletons were gigantic, some of them measuring up to nine feet, and few of them less than seven.
Some of the thigh bones were six inches longer than any unusual human skeleton. The farm had been cultivated for a century and was originally covered with thick pine growth. There was evidence from the crushed bones that a battle took place on that ground in ancient times and these were some of the dead. Were these the remains of Indians, or some other race entirely different? And who filled this ghastly well?

Last Wednesday, Rev. Nathaniel Wardell, Messers. Orin Wardell (of Toronto) and Daniel Fradenburg, were digging at the latter’s farm, which is on the banks of the Grand River in Cayuga County.
When they reached five or six feet below the surface, a strange sight met them. Stacked in layers, one on top of the other, about two hundred skeletons of near-perfect human beings – around the neck of each was a string of beads.
In this pit were also deposited several axes and stone skimmers. In the jaws of several of the skeletons were large stone pipes – one of which Mr. O. Wardell took it with him to Toronto a day or two after this Golgotha was unearthed.
These skeletons are those of men of gigantic stature, some of them measuring nine feet, very few of them under seven feet. Some of the thigh bones were found to be at least a foot longer than currently known, and one of the examined skulls completely covered the head of an ordinary person.
These skeletons supposedly belong to a race of peoples that predates the Indians.
About three years ago, the bones of a mastodon were found buried in the earth about 10 kilometers from this location. The pit and its ghastly occupants are now open to view for anyone who wants to pay a visit there.
Some people claim to believe that the location of the Fradenburg farm was formally an Indian burial place, but the enormous stature of the skeletons and the fact that centuries-old pine trees covered the site go a long way to refute this idea.
Did Fradenburg and his associates really unearth the remains of an ancient giant race lost in time? If so, where are these discoveries hidden today?
